CLEAN – Day 6

Time just keeps ticking along…day 6. I am really not missing breakfast and dinner either on the CLEAN program. This whole process is quite the adventure, but I still feel great. Good energy levels too, especially for how late I have been staying up lately!

Here’s today’s menu:

Breakfast: Mango/Cherry Smoothie with Brown Rice Protein Powder

Lunch: Salad with Chicken (pasture-fed)

Snack: Apple Pie Larabar

Dinner: Green Juice – Apple/Ginger/Lemon/Spinach

Yes, so green juice indeed! This is my second green juice experiment, and this was was sweeter than the first, and easier to drink, although I am . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 6

CLEAN – Day 5

It’s day 5 and I am settling down into somewhat of a routine. I must say that I feel great and have had NO digestive issues at all for the past 9 days (4 on the elimination diet, and 5 on CLEAN). I’ve only had a few cravings, and most of them are for something that’s not all that exciting either, but usually has one of the “no” foods in it…like eggs…which are in…like everything.

I am looking forward to reintroducing foods at the end and egg is probably going to be first. Tomato and . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 5

CLEAN – Day 4

Ahhh…a true CLEAN day. No cheating

Last night after the amazing berry smoothie, I had to try it again. This time, I used almond milk instead of coconut water and also added some brown rice protein powder. Was good, but I think the original was better (but I like to add protein to beef up the smoothie a bit, so worth the slight compromise in taste – next time I will use coconut water and brown rice protein powder to see if there is a difference there).

Here we go:

Breakfast – Berry Smoothie

Lunch – Lentil and Chicken . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 4

CLEAN – Day 3

Today, I did better. My only slip up today was a handful of popcorn (it was sitting on the counter and no one wanted it!).

I feel great today – lots of energy, and that’s a good thing because we had a busy day. Here’s what I ate today:

Breakfast: Mango/Cherry Smoothie – this time I used Unsweetened Mango/Pear Juice already pre-packaged. No weird tongue numbing this time. So, I think I’ll nix the fresh mangos and go for the unsweetened juice instead. I did add vanilla brown rice protein powder.

Lunch: Salad with Chicken (pasture-fed) and Rice Tortillas (leftover . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 3

Menu Plan Monday – July 19

It’s time for Menu Plan Monday again!

Since I have started my CLEAN program, my meals are simple: smoothie for breakfast and dinner, and lunch from the elimination diet okay list. So, here’s what I am eating for lunches, since the smoothies don’t require any planning at all.

Monday: Salad with Grilled Chicken (pasture-fed)

Tuesday: Lentil Dish Quesadilla

Wednesday: Salad with Grilled Chicken (pasture-fed)

Thursday: Chicken Fried Rice (made the CLEAN way with brown rice/wild rice and no soy sauce) (pasture-fed)

Friday: Leftover Buffet

Saturday: Leftover Buffet

Sunday: Lamb Gyro (minus the pita, extra cucumber)

Cooking for one is producing . . . → Read More: Menu Plan Monday – July 19

CLEAN – Day 2

Bummer. Only day 2 of the cleanse and I am already breaking the rules! I promise to get back on the “straight and narrow” tomorrow! So here’s the mess up. I started out fine today with a smoothie (or a partial one) for breakfast. Then picked up salad with chicken on the way to the beach with the family for my lunch. Good so far. Then, went to go cook dinner, and thought I would try this new red lentil/brown rice/onion “quesadilla” recipe, made on a brown rice flour tortilla. Fast forward an hour or . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 2

CLEAN – Day 1

After four days of elimination diet, I am now ready to move on to the cleanse portion of the CLEAN program! The difference? It’s easy – smoothie, soup or juice for breakfast and dinner, and lunch is a meal from the elimination diet okay list (the stuff I have been eating for four days).

I’ve eased in to this on purpose, with a few weeks of a half-elimination diet, followed by four days of strict elimination diet, and now the cleanse portion.

So far, I have felt great and I’ve noticed an increase in movement, . . . → Read More: CLEAN – Day 1

Homemade Deodorant

In an effort to remove all toxins, and per the recommendation of Dr. Junger in his book CLEAN, I stopped using deodorant from the store. It’s all got aluminum in it to block your pores and prevent perspiration, which is actually not good, since that is one of the methods that your body uses to remove toxins through your pores.

So, I was surfing online and found a great recipe for homemade deodorant from NaturallyKnockedUp.com. So, I thought I would give it a try. Here’s what I used:

1/4 cup aluminum free . . . → Read More: Homemade Deodorant

CLEAN Elimination Diet – Day 4

It’s day 4 of my elimination diet, and this is turning out to be easier than I thought so far. I have not had many food cravings for things I can’t have, and I am looking forward to the cleanse portion starting tomorrow!

Today’s menu was finishing off the lentil dish!

Breakfast: Lentil Dish

Lunch: Salad with Chicken (pasture-fed)

Dinner: Lentil Dish with Chicken (pasture-fed)

Simple. Easy. On to the clean program tomorrow!

To your success, Dr. Laura

CLEAN Elimination Diet – Day 3

Another good day on the elimination diet today. I actually feel great!

And, what’s really more of a surprise is that I am liking almost everything I have tried so far! (And, you can ask my husband, I am generally a picky eater!)

Today’s menu included a new raw bar, the Raspberry Chocolate one by Raw Revolution. I am really quite intrigued, since I don’t generally like ANY nutritional bar, but I have liked ALL THREE of the raw ones I have tried! How about that!

Breakfast: Raw Revolution Raspberry Chocolate Bar

Lunch: Salad with Chicken (organic, pasture-fed)

Snack: Green . . . → Read More: CLEAN Elimination Diet – Day 3
