I’m Booking It!

As I was reading at LifeAsMom.com the other day, I came across an older post from earlier this year with a book reading challenge.  Ahhh…this is right up my alley.  So what if I am already 8 months into the year, right?

So, I got to thinking.  I have definitely read several books this year, and remember most of them, so I thought I would try to recap what I’ve read so far in 2010, and what I’ve got on tap.  Then, I’ll be all caught up with the Booking It challenge.

I always have a goal to read 12 books a year at least.  So, here’s what I can remember that I have read in 2010 (I’m sure I will miss a few!):

The Power of Motherhood
The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate
The Complete Tightwad Gazette
Passionate Housewives Desperate for God
Love in the House
As a Man Thinketh
What Is A Family?
Promptings
Love Your Husband, Love Yourself
CLEAN
Real Food on a Real Budget
Me Obey Him?
The Sane Woman’s Guide to Raising a Large Family
Amish Peace: Simple Wisdom for a Complicated World
Success Made Simple: An Inside Look at Why Amish Businesses Thrive
The Secret
The Missing
The Telling
The Parting
The Forbidden
The Longing
The Preacher’s Daughter
The Englisher
The Brethren
The Covenant
The Betrayal
The Sacrifice
The Prodigal
The Revelation
The Shunning
The Confession
The Reckoning
The Postcard
The Crossroad
October Song
The Redemption of Sarah Cain
The Sunroom

I know what you are thinking now…WOW!  That’s more than 12 books.  Yes, you are right (it’s 37 to be exact), and it’s all because I got hooked on an Amish fictional writer…Beverly Lewis.  For a gal whose usual read is a NON-fiction book, it had been a while since I had picked up a fictional book.  But, on Mother’s Day, I was a little under the weather, so I curled up in bed with a good book, and got hooked on Beverly Lewis in the process.  Since then, I have read all but one of her books, and they are all wonderful (I even read her cookbook, but didn’t count any cookbooks in my tally)!

I am currently reading:

Omnivore’s Dilemma (interesting read so far, especially after having watched Food, Inc.)
Your First Year In Network Marketing: Overcome Your Fears, Experience Success and Achieve Your Dreams (although it’s not my first year)
Nourishing Traditions (this is like a textbook!)
The Bible (part of the Read The Bible in 90 Days Challenge)
Storm Warning
Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting: The Astonishing Power of Feelings
Go Green, Save Green
The Sanctuary (my last Beverly Lewis book)

And, on tap for the rest of the year:

Square Foot Gardening (to prepare me for next year’s garden)
The Excellent Wife

There are still 20+ books on my shelf to read when I can too, and oh yes, I am writing my second book too!  All those who have requested a companion to my book Organization for Home-Based Business Professionals will be happy to know that it is coming, and it’s on my other favorite subject…time management.  So, be patient :)

Well, that’s all the reading so far for this year!  I’ll keep you updated, and happy reading!

To your success,

Dr. Laura
