Menu Plan Monday – September 20

I can hardly believe it is another Monday! Why does the weekend go by so fast? We had company visiting this weekend and had a wonderful time. They were so impressed at my freezer inventory! I would whip it out every time I got ready to cook something, and I would create their “menu” of foods for them to choose from what they would like to eat.

I definitely went on a bit of a baking spree with our company here. Although we did eat out at our favorite local joint, I also made Breakfast Sandwiches (on . . . → Read More: Menu Plan Monday – September 20

Tidy-Up Thursday – Save Space – Dehydrate!

This year I have picked up 20 lbs of tomatoes and made tomato sauce from them, but I also had a bunch of tiny grape tomatoes that ended up growing in my own garden. Although I didn’t have a bunch of them, I had enough that you couldn’t eat in one sitting and needed to be stored, so I thought I would try to dehydrate them.

Needless to say, dehydrating turns out to be one of the easiest ways you can save space too!

I had four 12×12 sheets in my Excalibur dehydrator filled with . . . → Read More: Tidy-Up Thursday – Save Space – Dehydrate!

Book Review – Love Your Husband, Love Yourself

Several months ago, I found the Flanders Family web site. It’s a treasure trove of information and forms to make any household run smoothly (the Flanders have 12 children). But, what caught my eye was a book that Jennifer Flanders has written titled, Love Your Husband, Love Yourself. In Jennifer’s words:

“Would you like to take ten years off your appearance, reduce your risk of heart disease, and simultaneously divorce-proof your marriage? Are you plagued by stress-filled days and sleepless nights? Do you long for a deeper, more satisfying relationship to your spouse? Then this is the book for you. . . . → Read More: Book Review – Love Your Husband, Love Yourself

Do You Eat REAL FOOD?

Okay, I know what you are thinking…

Of course I eat real food! But, does the food you are eating nourish your body? Is it working with the design that God has created in each of us? Is it helping restore and heal your body, or is it breaking it down?

Perhaps you are like me. I was fine on the “standard American diet” for a long time. I was overweight after the birth of my two children, and suffered from PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome), but I thought I was fine. I did end up losing . . . → Read More: Do You Eat REAL FOOD?

Booking It – September Update

Remember last month when I said that I would join the Booking It challenge from LifeAsMom.com? Well, here is the update for this past month. It’s been about 3 weeks since the first Booking It post, so here’s a recap:

This month I finished up Omnivore’s Dilemma (review coming soon!) and read some more of Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting. But, my primary focus in reading this past month is reading the Bible in 90 Days.

These are the books I am reading currently:

Dr. Laura’s Tasty Tuesday – Homemade Tomato Sauce

Yes, tomatoes are in season. They are everywhere at my local farmer’s market. In every shape, size and color. I even have a few in my own garden (although not as many as I would like)!

So, I got inspired to make my own tomato sauce.

I’ve never made my own sauce before, and so I did check out some resources (The Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving and this post by Heavenly Homemakers) first before diving in. I combined both recipes and dove in.

I am all about quick and easy. I made two batches of . . . → Read More: Dr. Laura’s Tasty Tuesday – Homemade Tomato Sauce

Bible in 90 Days Update – 19 Days To Go!

As you may know, I am reading through the Bible in 90 Days. This has been quite an experience and I am so thankful for everything that God has been showing me through this journey.

I am still far behind. We are supposed to be on page 852 by the end of the day and I am on page 450. That’s 400 pages behind. We are on day 71, which means there is 19 days left. There are 1048 pages in my Bible and I have 598 left. That’s about 32 pages a day for the next 19 days.

Menu Plan Monday – September 13

Another week, another menu! We are still eating from the freezer this week. In fact, I should have a little impromptu contest to see how little I can spend on groceries this month while we eat from our pantry!

It’s only because I took the time to create an inventory first, then planned meals accordingly that we are able to eat so much from our freezer (because we know what is in there!).

So, here’s what is on tap for us this week:

Steak on the Grill Tater Tot Casserole Lentil Dish Cheesy Beef Macaroni Pizza Tender . . . → Read More: Menu Plan Monday – September 13

My CLEAN Journey

Some of you may be wondering what happened to the tail end of my second round of CLEAN. Well, I stopped a bit earlier than the full 21 days, but I wanted to follow up to share some insights with you.

I ate from a list of “okay” foods for almost a month (in 2 segments). This list excludes all major allergens, such as wheat, soy, dairy, eggs, peanuts, etc. Here’s a picture of the list of foods for the elimination diet (click on the picture to enlarge), and you can download the entire CLEAN manual here.
