This week for Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 I decluttered the children’s clothes!
So I finally got around to finishing the children’s clothes. For weeks I have been putting away laundry thinking to myself, “I’ve got to go through the clothes and take out everything that doesn’t fit anymore!”.
Well, this week was the week. And actually, my mother-in-law was the reason behind the cleaning. She offered to take me shopping for school clothes for the children. That was all I needed to hear to motivate myself to tackle our clothes! Of course, this is because I had to know what they actually needed before we went shopping.
After having the children try on their clothes, and sorting out the old ones they have outgrown, I also had a huge load of clothes to take to Goodwill. I had been piling up things for Goodwill for weeks, so this week I took not one, but TWO trips to Goodwill to dropoff! So freeing!
So, here’s clothes in closet one before:
And after:
And clothes in closet two before:
You might notice that there are a lot of adult clothes in there too. Those are mine from back in January when I went through my closet for Project 333. And now, since it’s been 7 months and more than one season and I still haven’t worn these clothes, I went through most and donated them. The ones I kept for occasional use (like the formal dresses), I moved to the guest room closet.
And after:
I didn’t go through the actual closets themselves – I’m saving that for another week. But, I did go through the clothes in both closets, and in both dressers as well – I didn’t take pictures of the dressers, because there wasn’t much change. Most of our clothes we hang up.
