This week I finally got around to making homemade donuts. We used the Wilton doughnut pan, and the recipes on the back.
One batch made 11 donuts, which we ate in one day! They were awesome!
We made cinnamon and sugar (my favorite):
And chocolate glazed (children’s favorites):

Many of you have been following along as I have shared what I was learning in the Wilton Cake Decorating Classes I have been taking at our local Michaels Store.
I had to wait a few months to take the last two classes – advanced flowers and gum paste and fondant – but I had a blast and I’m so glad I’ve got some new tips and techniques under my belt for the next cake!
Here’s our my final cake from the gum paste and fondant class. I had some bright colored fondant left over, so this . . . → Read More: Dr. Laura’s Tasty Tuesday – Final Cake Class

As I mentioned in my recent post about being overwhelmed, I am making some minor changes on the blog, including my Dr. Laura’s Tasty Tuesday posts.
For me, the most exciting part of hosting this recipe hop is to get to see what you are all making in the kitchen. It gives me inspiration and enthusiasm for trying out new things.
So, keeping that focus in mind, I am going to continue to host a weekly recipe hop here at Dr. Laura’s Tasty Tuesday, with one small change. I will not be sharing a recipe weekly myself. . . . → Read More: Dr. Laura’s Tasty Tuesday

The first one to catch my eye was homemade Twix bars from Amanda at The Sweet Details. I had never thought of making Twix bars homemade, but my husband loves those, so I . . . → Read More: Dr. Laura’s Tasty Tuesday – Featured Recipes

Okay, so I admit that after reading from several blogs about the yummy homemade ice cream that they had, and being sad because I didn’t have an ice cream maker, I decided that it was high time I rectified that situation.
So, I used my last 20% off coupon for Bed, Bath and Beyond (see where the rest went here) and got the Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. The children were even patient to wait the 24 hours before the freezer insert was completely frozen.
Since then, we have indulged in not one, but two batches of fantastic homemade ice . . . → Read More: Dr. Laura’s Tasty Tuesday – Homemade Ice Cream Baby!

This week as I was checking out the recipes on the CLEAN forums, in preparation for my participation in the CLEAN program again, I found a tasty recipe for hummus.
After I nearly burned out the motor in my blender, I made a few changes to the recipe and came up with this fantastic concoction!
I tried it with cut baby carrots and homemade brown rice tortilla chips (take brown rice tortillas, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt, cut into wedges, and bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crunchy) and it . . . → Read More: Dr. Laura’s Tasty Tuesday – Heavenly Hummus

I was reading The Simple Life by Wanda Brunstetter, which has several Amish recipes in it, and I loved the idea of chicken corn soup. I didn’t exactly do what they suggested, but it gave me the inspiration for my chicken corn soup. It turned out great, and it was quick and easy (plus, it used some of the 104 cobs of corn we have canned).
In the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some CLEAN recipes, since I’m going back on the CLEAN program for a bit
