By simplify, on August 31st, 2010% It’s day 8 in the 21 day CLEAN program. We are having a crazy week, which is part of the reason I am just opting for leftovers. Cooking CLEAN foods tends to take more time. But, this is good, because the food is also less processed. Still working through some leftovers, so obviously taking a few day hiatus from the CLEAN regimen. I’ll be back on track tomorrow, I think.
Today:
Breakfast – Breakfast Sandwich
Lunch – Spaghetti
Dinner – Tea
Feeling tired today. Lots to do though as we get ready for school to start again as well. Which . . . → Read More: CLEAN Round 2, Day 8
By simplify, on August 30th, 2010% It’s day 7 in the 21 day CLEAN program. Still had some leftovers to deal with today, so today’s menu was all leftovers, and not CLEAN. I must say, that I still can notice a difference with today being less energy (because of the food, no doubt), and also feeling more sluggish in general.
Here’s what I ate today:
Breakfast – none
Lunch – Salad with Chicken
Dinner – American Flatbread Cheese and Herb Pizza
On to tomorrow…at least the salad today was good!
To your success,
Dr. Laura

By simplify, on August 29th, 2010% It’s day 6 in the 21 day CLEAN program. Things are moving right along. I have to admit there is one thing that I have found to be “hard” on this program. That’s food waste.
The problem lies with the fact that pre-CLEAN, my pantry was not so healthy. Moving in to CLEAN, I went out and bought healthier foods (and non-allergen foods). Since I am the only one eating CLEAN in my home, I am still cooking for my family from my pantry, which is still steadily evolving into a more healthy pantry (as one thing runs out, I . . . → Read More: CLEAN Round 2, Day 6
By simplify, on August 28th, 2010% Day 5 is here in my second round of CLEAN. For those just joining me on my journey, it’s designed to be a 21 day cleansing program, which removes all common allergen foods from your diet. Then, one at a time, you reintroduce a food to see how your body reacts to it. This allows you to detect any food sensitivities.
I am doing this because I have had digestive problems for about 18 months, and I want to find out what (if any) foods might be triggering a response, since often food allergies are presented as digestive problems.

By simplify, on August 27th, 2010% It is day 4 of the 21 day CLEAN program, and today was pretty uneventful.
Just like the last round of CLEAN, once you start to get in the rhythm of the days, they just blend together, and become the norm.
The key here is to NOT focus on what you CANNOT have, but instead focus on what you CAN have.
So, I use this opportunity to get creative with my recipes and try out some new variations. (I’ll be blogging later on how I organize my recipes!)
But alas, today was just another normal day

By simplify, on August 26th, 2010% It’s day 3 of the 21 day CLEAN program. Today was another good day! I spent the day cleaning and creating a pantry and freezer inventory (post to come next week!) so when I looked up at the clock, I found that I had already missed breakfast and most of “lunch”! I was hungry though, so here’s what I had to eat today:
Breakfast – none
Lunch – Lentil Chicken Quesadilla with Homemade Guacamole
Dinner – Mango Juice with Cherries
Usually when I do the mango juice and cherries, I just blend them together (by the way, I LOVE my . . . → Read More: CLEAN Round 2, Day 3
By simplify, on August 25th, 2010% It’s day 2 of round 2 of the 21 day CLEAN program. All good here!
Here’s what I had to eat today:
Breakfast – none
Lunch – Chicken/Black Bean “Taco” Salad with Homemade Guacamole
Snack – Cucumber Salad
Dinner – none
I’ve learned to listen to the signals of hunger and fullness that my body gives (and God provides) as a way to signal when to eat and when to stop (a concept I have learned from Weigh Down). So, I eat only when physiologically hungry (my stomach growls), and I stop when pleasantly satisfied. I’ve learned that by staying . . . → Read More: CLEAN Round 2, Day 2
By simplify, on August 24th, 2010% It’s time for CLEAN again! This time, I am committed to getting through the entire 21 days with minimal hiccups! I really want to know what food(s) might be causing my digestive issues once and for all!
It was a pretty uneventful day, coming off of my 3 day fast (I actually ended up with 3 1/2 days).
The fast, by the way, was wonderful and very spiritually enriching (I would highly recommend reading the book Fasting by Jentezen Franklin if you want to learn more about fasting for spiritual reasons), as always. And, I am praising God for some . . . → Read More: CLEAN Round 2, Day 1

As part of the CLEAN program (today is round 2, day 1), I have learned to experiment with several dishes to create something new.
As a background, I LOVE quesadillas. I am the quesadilla queen and could probably write a book about the different quesadillas of the world and rank them all.
However, pretty much the entire quesadilla (minus the chicken and guacamole) is entirely off the list of okay foods during the clean program.
So, I took the lentil dish recipe, and a recipe for brown rice quesadillas I found on the CLEAN forum, . . . → Read More: Dr. Laura’s Tasty Tuesday – Lentil Chicken Quesadillas with Homemade Guacamole

It’s really hard to believe that the summer is nearly over and children are starting school soon (or, in some cases, have started already!).
And, since it is the end of the summer, that also means lots of canning and preserving too, so I am thankful for the freezer stocked full of good food to eat.
This also makes it easier for me, too, since I will be on the CLEAN program, which is entirely different food. This means I don’t have to worry about cooking much, because I already have several things stocked in . . . → Read More: Menu Plan Monday – August 23
