By simplify, on April 2nd, 2012% Almost Amish by Nancy Sleeth was an enjoyable and informative read.
I am absolutely drawn to anything that has to do with simplicity, and I also love reading Amish fiction, so when I saw the book Almost Amish, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
But Nancy Sleeth delivers a super book that not only shows us what we can learn from the Amish regarding simplifying our busy lives, homes and schedules, but also concrete suggestions and real-life stories and applications that leave you with something tangible to do now.
In Almost Amish the author covers several major areas: our homes, . . . → Read More: Book Review – Almost Amish
By simplify, on April 2nd, 2012% Not This Time was my first time reading author Vicki Hinze’s work. The writing was fast-paced and kept me turning pages, despite the initial rocky outset.
I didn’t realize until I started reading the book, that Not This Time is a third book in a series. So, to be honest it took about 50-100 pages to really get familiar with all of the characters. While the author did an okay job of giving some background information, I did feel a little bit at a loss for not having read the first two in the series, primarily for character development.

By simplify, on March 4th, 2012% My latest read was Mercy Come Morning by Lisa Bergren. This was the first time I had read a book authored by Lisa and I was impressed.
Mercy Come Morning is a touching story of the lives Krista, her mother Charlotte who has Alzheimers, and Dane, who runs the nursing home where Charlotte lives.
Oh yeah…and Dane just happens to be an old flame of Krista’s.
When Charlotte takes a turn for the worse, Krista comes back to Taos, New Mexico to face her mother, and her demons from the past. Krista struggles with feelings toward her mother that stem . . . → Read More: Book Review – Mercy Come Morning

By simplify, on February 2nd, 2012% You might say I’m on a Cindy Woodsmall kick…and you would be right!
I love reading series of Amish fiction stories, but really love when they all come together in one volume. This is the case with Sisters of the Quilt trilogy.
Sisters of the Quilt is the complete trilogy in one volume, and includes: When the Heart Cries, When the Morning Comes, and When the Soul Mends.
As is the case with all of Cindy’s books that I have read so far, the Sisters of the Quilt series captures you from the very beginning and holds you until the . . . → Read More: Book Review – Sisters of the Quilt

By simplify, on December 27th, 2011% I became a fan of Tsh Oxenreider of Simple Mom when I read her first book Organized Simplicity. And she has done it again with One Bite at a Time – 52 Projects for Making Life Simpler.
I am all about simplifying and I love to read other’s work on the subject. In fact, I devoured Tsh’s book in just one sitting!
Although these projects are designed to be spread out over time, I have several that really resonated with me that I will be working on in the next few months:

By simplify, on December 19th, 2011% I was recently introduced to Amish fiction author Cindy Woodsmall when I read her book The Christmas Singing.
I love Amish fiction and Cindy is a phenomenal writer. The latest trilogy of books for the Ada’s House series are fun, upbeat, and full of wonderful characters.
Since I like to read things in order, and I had read some previous reviews of The Harvest of Grace, which is book 3 in the series, saying that it was better to read them in order, I did just that.
First comes The Hope of Refuge, followed by The Bridge of Peace and . . . → Read More: Book Review – The Harvest of Grace

I can’t believe another year has come and gone for Booking It! And this year I read 118 books – more than an average of 2 a week – including some major 1,000+ page books! WOW!
Jessica will be Booking It again in 2012, and I love keeping track of the books I have read, so I’ll be joining her again next year…until then…
