Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Massive Garage Overhaul

This past weekend, we had some nice weather, so I took the plunge and did the entire basement and garage…and a few other things too!

I did several things this week. First, I did go back and clear out the pantry (again). It was the only spot I was able to revisit that I have already done, but at least it was a start. From the pantry, I tossed/recycled 55 items, donated 12 items, and returned 3 items to the store for credit.

I also sold my elliptical machine, an infant walker, and several CDs that I . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Massive Garage Overhaul

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 Goes Into Overdrive!

Nothing like an impending possible move to get you organized and decluttered fast!

Well, it looks like there is a good possibility for a move in my future within the next six months. So, instead of tapering off on my Minimalist Monday Mission, I am ramping things up into overdrive!

I can’t tell you how relieved I am that I have already decluttered so much! What a load off my back! To know that most of my main living floor has already been purged and decluttered this year so far.

But, it’s not enough.

In fact, the . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 Goes Into Overdrive!

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Bedroom Closet 2

This week for Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 I decluttered the second bedroom closet!

After starting on the closets by doing the children’s clothes, I decided to keep going with the rest of the closets. This week is the second closet, after finishing the first closet last week.

It’s been a bit tricky to do the closets because I like to do them when the children are not around, so that I can sort out everything without being interrupted with “Wow! Look at this!” or “I haven’t seen this in a while!” constantly! This allows me to . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Bedroom Closet 2

It’s been a bit tricky to do the closets because I like to do them when the children are not around, so that I can sort out everything without being interrupted with “Wow! Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Children’s Clothes

This week for Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 I decluttered the children’s clothes!

So I finally got around to finishing the children’s clothes. For weeks I have been putting away laundry thinking to myself, “I’ve got to go through the clothes and take out everything that doesn’t fit anymore!”.

Well, this week was the week. And actually, my mother-in-law was the reason behind the cleaning. She offered to take me shopping for school clothes for the children. That was all I needed to hear to motivate myself to tackle our clothes! Of course, this is because I . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Children’s Clothes

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Guest Room Dresser and Guest Bathroom

This week for Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 I decluttered the guest room dresser and the guest bathroom!

This week, I decided to double up and finish two smaller areas instead of one larger area. Plus, the guest room closet was done a few weeks ago, which only left the dresser. So, now I can say that I finished another room!

There is a big dresser in our guest room, but it’s mostly empty so our guests can use it. There were three drawers full of bags, and lots of winter stuff. I was able to get . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Guest Room Dresser and Guest Bathroom

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Linen Closet – Part 2

This week for Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 I decluttered the linen closet…again!

Last week, I tackled the left side of the linen closet, which was mostly toiletry items and a few other things, and this week, I moved on to the right side of the linen closet!

The right side was mostly towels, linens, a few toiletries, and some odds and ends. There were less items overall on the right side, but they took up just as much space!

Here’s what it looked like:

And after rearranging lots of linens (see all my . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Linen Closet – Part 2

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Linen Closet – Part 1

This week for Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 I decluttered the linen closet!

This was such a big undertaking that I had to split it into two weeks, so part 2 will follow next week! And, as I mentioned before, you will see that I once again stocked up on the Real Simple Cedar Collection Fabric Containers – I got a hold of more Bed Bath and Beyond coupons!

I love the cedar containers, because they are much better for storing linens in for long-term storage. And, they look pretty too, plus there is a spot where . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Linen Closet – Part 1

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Are You Overwhelmed?

Have you ever started a project and then made some decent headway only to find that you are overwhelmed in the end? I have too.

I am naturally a starter, and not a finisher, which is why accountability to someone else is key in helping me finish the projects I want to do. Either that, or a deadline…or both.

So, recently there have been many things on my plate – children out from school, summer camps, trip to visit my Mom and help her organize and declutter, ongoing health issues, huge growth in my Thirty-One Gifts company, . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Are You Overwhelmed?

Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Guest Room Closet

This week for Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 I decluttered the guest room closet (A.K.A. the toy closet)!

This week’s project was to clean out the toy closet. We had this great idea that we would put half of the toys in the closet, and then keep half of them out. Then we would rotate them every few weeks, or just make one toy go into the closet to get one out. Sounded like a great idea, and it worked well for a while, until the toys in the closet became a bit outdated, outgrown and not . . . → Read More: Minimalist Monday Mission: Declutter 365 – Guest Room Closet
